Controversy Erupts Over Lamine Yamal’s 18th Birthday Celebration

Lamine Yamal, the rising star of Spain’s national team and Barcelona, has recently sparked controversy following his 18th birthday party on July 13, 2025. The event faced backlash due to its entertainment segment, which featured professional performers with dwarfism. This led to public outcry and a planned investigation by the Spanish government, triggered by complaints from the Association for Achondroplasia and Skeletal Dysplasia (ADEE).
The association condemned the use of individuals with dwarfism as mere entertainment, viewing it as discriminatory and degrading in today’s society. They emphasized that such acts perpetuate harmful stereotypes and undermine the dignity of people with dwarfism. ADEE’s president expressed strong disappointment and promised legal and social action against those responsible.
Further controversy arose when a Spanish model revealed she was asked to find blonde models with specific body measurements for the party, and guests were banned from using phones under the guise of protecting privacy. Despite the backlash, one unnamed performer defended the event, stating that all entertainers were treated with respect and worked legally, questioning why the party stirred such public outrage.
Amid the controversy, Lamine Yamal’s career continues to shine brightly. At just 18, he has already secured multiple trophies, including leading Spain to victory at EURO 2024 and winning several titles with Barcelona, such as two LaLiga championships, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.
